  • WHAT IS TEACHING
  • There are many definitions of the word:
  • TEACHING 
  • Teaching, is to impart knowledge or instruct (someone) how to do something.
  • To give information about or instructions in a subject or skill.
  • Cause someone to learn or understand by example or experience.
  • Encourage someone to accept (something)as a fact or principle.
  • A process of attending to people’s needs, experiences & feelings, while making specific interventions, to help them learn particular thing.
  • Is the concerted sharing of knowledge & experiences, which is usually organised within a discipline & more generally the stimulus provision, for psychological & intellectual growth of a person by another person or artifact.
  • WHO IS A TEACHER 
  • A Teacher( also called a school teacher, or in some context, an educator) is a person who helps students acquire, knowledge,competence or value. Teachers play a role of a second parent, or surrogate parent,they can impact the life of a student, positively or negatively. (There are many hallowing, terrifying stories where teachers have destroyed students dreams & aspirations)  
  • A teacher just like a parent , must travel with a student/child through education journey, with a vision of aiding him/her reach their full potential, both academically, socially & spiritually. Moulding, a holistic  young adult,equipped to face life challenges & opportunities.
  • Teaching is a noble multifaceted profession, there are other vital roles beyond imparting knowledge, other roles include : 
  • To teach all levels of education using appropriate & innovative teaching strategies.
  • Facilitate learning through functional Lesson Plan, Schemes of work, etc.
  • Support, supervise activities, instructions & guideline of the Curriculum,& co-curriculum projects.
  • Maintain” class routine” ie, class control, discipline, cleanliness, conducive classroom atmosphere, & harmonious relationship between pupils, while meeting individual needs. 
  • Communicate  & inform Parent/guardian the progress of the learner &  technical skills that can help build the well being of the learner
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils progress regularly, while undertaking activities to improve performance indicator.
  • Give learner’s timely constructive, accurate feedback of their performance and give them opportunities for remedial classes.
  • Maintain updated pupils  school records including performance records.
  • Counseling and guiding the learner when she/he is faced with challenges.
